Uncut again?

I was flicking channels just then and the shower scene from uncut showed up with two naked people.

After a week of controversy, Channel Ten is still showing Big Brother uncut.

It was nearly 10 at night and I don’t think parents would want their eight year olds to watch crap like that - especially when people stay up till late during school holidays.

Some people find it amusing, but I find it rather disgusting.

I mean, channel ten might as well declare itself as a porn channel instead.

Who’s copying whom?

After a long talk with my brother on the phone, we learnt that there are Breadtalk stores in Singapore, Indonesia, China and even in Kuwait. So I did a search on google for Breadtalk singapore and it turned out that the Breadtalk opened a few years before Breadtop opened in Melbounre and there are striking similarities between the two bread stores and its corresponding websites. Bahgae, Lancerlord and other bloggers in the south east Asian region have also noticed the Breadtop/Breadtalk resemblance. They also mention other clones such as Bread history and Bread Story, although Bread story appear to look differently from Breadtalk/Breadtop.

Its difficult to figure out who is copying whom, but I think that the whole idea was originally from the owner of Breadtalk in Singapore, which first opened in 200o and has expanded its market to other parts of Asia.

Despite the cloning and the stealing of ideas around the world, Breadtop in Melbourne appears successful. There are already 6 stores in Metropolitan Melbourne and it won’t be long till stores open in Glen Waverley, Richmond or even in other capital cities around Australia. That’s my prediction, but who knows?

The real downside to Breadtop though is its lack of originality and its overpricing. If it wasn’t that, I’d be purchasing my daily bread from there.

Doraemon….

This Japansese cartoon from the 80s is very very funny. It has some very very wrong facts though:

The english translation to the Japanese cartoon reads:

“Travel 10 billion back into the past for dinosaur hunting”?

That surely doesn’t sound right.

Earth only formed 4.5 - 5 billion years ago and dinosaurs only appeared not till after the Permian, which was 250 Ma ago.

I hate it when cartoons and movies don’t show facts correctly.

Cheap eats

We got this waffle from Flinder’s Station because it smelled so nice and it was only for two bucks. This even tasted better than that steak I had at Papa Gino’s last night.

Cheap eats doesn’t always mean bad quality food.

Signs of improvement in Melbourne’s PT system

Maybe it was just a coincidence, or maybe the public transport system has indeed improved over the past few months despite what connex whinger says. It took me half an hour to get from Ashburton to Caulfield yesterday although there’s no direct route. I got on the bus right on 4:45 pm in the afternoon (it was on time!) and then travelled to Glen Iris, where I got on the tram a few minutes after I left Ashburton. I got off at Armadale station and only waited 2 minutes for a train. I arrived at Caulfield 5:17 pm, which was a lot quicker than I expect. A simple tip to the public transport system in Melbourne is to check metlink’s website half an hour before you travel and you’ll be right.
