PoA DVD

In a few days later (when I can be bothered to go to Glen Waverley), I will get my copy the third installment of the Harry Potter film: The Prisoner of Azkaban. I can’t wait to watch it again. The harry potter DVDs here are always released a week after the US and the UK release date.

NewsPapers

I got the Saturday Age yesterday for 2 bucks and it was massive. It was two stacks of broadsheet newspaper which amounted to a kilogram. I got it so I can get the Harry Potter Promotional DVD. The only things that I read in it are News, A2, Good Weekend and Insight. The rest are all property stuff, business, employment and sports sections which I don’t read. A newspaper (though probably made from recycled paper) about 1 centimeter thick should cost more than $2. I see papers lying around trains, cafes and even benches in parks and gardens every day and hundreds and thousands of them are dumped everyday into non-recycling bins. Thus recycle bins specifically for newspapers should be provided.

Spam

I don’t know why, but I get lots of spam everyday in the comments section of my blog. The types of spam that I used to get are ones that only have a hyperlink directed to the website, with a few words in the message. But spammers now put crap like this:

Those who assert that the mathematical sciences say nothing of the beautiful or the good are in error. For these sciences say and prove a great deal about them; if they do not expressly mention them, but prove attributes which are their results or definitions, it is not true that they tell us nothing about them. The chief forms of beauty are order and symmetry and definiteness, which the mathematical sciences demonstrate in a special degree.

None of these words are in my block list because these words are used frequently, so its getting really hard to block spam other than preventing people to post comments in the blogs and not get any feedback. The spam comes from a range of IPs and its difficult to block all of them.

Blog spam is much more annoying than email spam.

Games Games and Games!!!

It was in 2001, four years ago, when I was still playing Pokemon with the old Gameboy Colour system, doing homework with my 6 GB, 64 MB RAM NEC versalite FX notebook and playing games on the old playstation one. Now, coming towards the year 2005, I play and study on

a) A PC that is an AMD processor, with at least 30 GB of storage space and 256 MB RAM. The main OS i use is Windows 2000 (I’m a bit reluctant to upgrade it to XP since my computer skills are not the best and I’ve heard stories that Windows 2000 is more secure compared to XP.)

b) An Apple ibook with 30 GB storage and have wireless capabilities, running on Mac OS 10.3.6 Panther.

c) A digital camera - Canon Powershot A70 - a 3 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom - not the best camera, but enough for me to have fun with.

I mainly work, study and play with these three pieces of technology, although I still have a TI 83+ calc, which I use sometimes, a GBC and a playstation one, which I rarely use. I also have sitting at the back of my garage, an old NEC Versa 2400. It had windows running for it but then my brother had replaced it with a linux system. I thought of selling it, but I don’t think anyone who want to buy it.

Now I am wondering how I could trade in my GBC and my PS and buy a PSII with one of the eye toy games or perhaps save some money for a ninendo gameboy DS or a mini ipod.

Disneyland.

HK Disneyland will open in 12th September next year. I can’t wait!
